Our thoughts are with those in western North Carolina who have been deeply affected by Hurricane Helene, especially the many children, families, and child care businesses facing much uncertainty. Our team is committed to providing information on available resources for those who are seeking help in the aftermath of this catastrophic event.
- Call 211 for shelters, food assistance, welfare checks, and non-emergency storm recovery help.
- DHHS and the the Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies are facilitating an NC Child Care Hotline to connect families with children aged 12 and under with child care options. For help finding care, call 1-888-600-1685 Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
- Crisis Cleanup (844-965-1386) will connect you with volunteer organizations who can assist with issues like trees, debris, tarps, and mucking out.
- Hope4Healers Helpline (919) 226-2002 - The NC DHHS and the NC Psychological Foundation created the Hope4Healers helpline to connect front line workers (child care, healthcare, education and first responders only) to licensed mental health professionals. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All calls are confidential.
- Hope4NC Helpline (855) 587-3463 - Available 24/7, Hope4NC connects North Carolinians to mental health and resilience supports that help them cope and build resilience during times of crisis. All calls are confidential.
