Spotlight: Jeanne Turner, Work-based Learning Consultant, Office of Career and Technical Education, NC Department of Public Instruction
Work-based learning collaboratively engages public school systems and employers, using the workplace to provide students with the knowledge and skills to connect school experiences to future career opportunities. As a new school year begins, we spotlight Jeanne Turner, Work-based Learning Consultant for the NC Department of Public Instruction. Jeanne manages program implementation and provides technical assistance to enrich work-based learning for students in grades 6-12. Her mission is to be an accessible resource, advancing education and workforce development in North Carolina.

Charlotte Bilingual Preschool Holds Graduation Ceremony for ECE Apprentices
Charlotte Bilingual Preschool (CBP), a Building Bright Futures participant, recently celebrated the graduation of its cohort of five early childhood education apprentices. These apprentices have successfully completed their ECE apprenticeship, earning credentials through Central Piedmont Community College while completing work-based learning hours at the preschool. Representatives from Central Piedmont CC and ApprenticeshipNC were in attendance and Morgan Ford, Program Director of BBF, was among several guest speakers who provided congratulatory remarks. CBP is enrolling a new cohort of ECE apprentices this fall, continuing to build its pipeline of high-quality early educators. Congratulations, graduates!

BBF Participants: Don't Forget to Submit Financial Requests!
The BBF team hosted a webinar tutorial on the reimbursement request process and the types of financial support BBF can provide. If you are a participant of BBF, you can view the webinar and slide presentation by going to the password-protected Participants Access page and clicking the Wage and Expense Reimbursement tab.
